How To XV, from me, Xavier De Le Rue brings you all the tips and tricks I have learnt from over 20 years of snowboarding experience as a competitor and a freerider.
I want to pass on my knowledge to inspire you to get out there and ride ice, straight-line, manage avalanche danger, drop cliffs, splitboard, ride in trees, scope lines, ride in powder and so much more.
Please get in touch with ideas of "How to's" you would like to see and I will do my best to answer them.

PELVIC FRACTURE SPLINT | HOW TO XV
Unfortunately in skiing and snowboarding a pelvic fracture is quite possible; crashing over rocks or hitting a tree stump and this injury can be life-threatening. The good news is, it is also very easy to manage until the rescue arrives, so definitely one that is worth knowing.
So in this episode of How To we are back with expedition medic Dr. Lucy Obolensky, who takes us through the steps, what to look for, how to treat it - first with a pelvic sling, but then improvising with gear that you will have in your pack and how to manage it whilst waiting for the emergency services.

All good but ice axe inside the bag? No thanks
Hi, Xavier! I'm setting up my bindings now. You sad that duck stance in long term could hurt knees, does slightly duck (+18,-6) hurt knees too?
That coil is complete garbage, backup prussik is wrong and you are crossloading. Nice demo on what not to do 😅

Thank you!
I’m having a hard time finding compatible crampons for my boots that wear split boarding. That petzl irvis fl might be an option, but it doesn’t look as good as my universal bd crampons.
gerat tips. very useful!
A good to side turn. You should feel like Gerry Lopez. Tucking into a barrel ll😂
Your content, energy and passion you bring with the video’s is so great. Really enjoy ‘m! So thanks 🤘🏼🏂 Little extra detail for the hypothermia part - a game changer though - is to also wrap the vics head in the blanket!!! Even when wearing a helmet (with vent grooves). (When waiting long, especially with any kind of bleeding, hypothermia might very well be the biggest concern after stopping the bleeding.)
Thank you - very good tip.
Sei un grande, il migliore di tutti
DO NOT !! try to bend metal parts of your crampons. Hardened steel or aluminum will most likely crack. As mine did.
How do you go here for kiting? There are some groups or society there?
This yoga routine was the only reason I was able to snowboard for 7 days straight with only 1 day rest.
Wait, why do you split Board skis not work on as steep of terrain as ski skins?
Absolutely loved this! Thank you! Im only just getting back into snowboarding after a few years break and it's really helped with all the tension! Thank you 😊
How is the landing on grass ? That worries me a bit
Good way to have basic skills is to just go few times cross country skiing or using gliding snowshoes. Basically the same thing in the flat and if you need to turn etc.
Shouldn't you switch sides so the Radius Edges is on the outside where it will be more effective in a carving turn.
Not sure I will have much carving going on! - But the main reason to switch the "skis" is to ensure that your "buckles" are on the outside and they don't catch, that way when you are splitboarding up(or skiing down!) you don't accidentally undo your bindings. Xv
What bindings lock down? My Union Chargers Don't.
Hello Xavier, what's the brand of these clips? Thank you very much et très cordialement, Andrea
What are you wearing in the video?
Cornices, crevasses, tree wells, roots, terrain traps (avalanches), snow packs (avalanches) are always on my radar to check before hand with maps, binoculars or a drone for safety (unless I walk up by and see the line in plain sight) amongst generic things like rocks, gradient or weather.
Could you do a video on how to self arrest - especially on heel side?
Hi Xavier I love your videos! Question, what bindings are those, I can see they're not SparkRD (I use Spark) and probably not Karakoram either. And if something else, how do they compare to those brands?
If it looks dangerous I imagine some try to climb down. The rope stays?
What if you cannot fix your heels?
Are Freedom bibs good for powder and backcountry riding?
Absolutely insane terrain shown in the later clips!
What is the tail clip brand please?
Ive only been riding a couple of years but i love riding through choppy moguls as fast as i can. It made me improve my turns so quickly.
Fantastic routine. This and the before snowboarding one. I do this year round a few times per week for "routine maintenance" and every time on a day of boarding. Merci beaucoup!
Hello. I have a question. Wouldn't it be better to secure the pulley with a knot instead of maintaining the tension with t-block? I mean if either the anchor or the pulley fails you will be pulled suddenly backwards. Thank you
Love the content and super keen to try some splitboarding hopefully this season. I’d also love to know what jacket you’re wearing? 😊
😎
This was crazy helpful! Thank you so much!!
I’m surprised more splitboarders don’t embrace the tele turn, and use fishscale bases. You really don’t need skins in most situations. I’m tempted to turn some fat tele fishscale boards into a “snowboard” with voile plates, using 75mm plastic boots, and a voile 3pin binding for the ascent.
So far, I have not been in the cold and in the snow, but one day I will come and try.
It is cold but beautiful
❤❤yeeee
Because it's worth it
I hope to see you get a million followers
I get a lot of good energy from you
Everyone is jealous and judge you, continue your work strong men 💪❤
Yeee men strong men❤
Hey guys, I love this routine, it really is helping my recovery everyday after snowboard instructor training in Verbier! My goal is to do this every day for the whole season and I bet I’ll become super bendy ahah 🤙
Yes 🤘
Merci pour le super contenu encore une fois. 🤙
So nice!!! Love watching your clips! Where exactly have you been to i this one?
This one was in La Grave - which is renowned for snow kiting - there is also good snow kiting in Valais in the Simplon pass.
